How long does a build take?

The build time is entirely dependent on the requirements of each guitar. However, typical build times are 6-8 weeks. You will be quoted your build time upon ordering; if there's any need to extend this, you will be consulted accordingly.

How much will my guitar cost?

This depends entirely on the cost of the materials and hardware, plus the work involved. If you want a SC guitar with a pine body, budget hardware, and a simple finish, it'll cost a lot less than something made from exotic materials and the finest hardware money can buy.

In our experience, the cost is usually the meeting point between what you want and what your budget is.

Please note that our minimum cost is £1000.

What if I want to make changes to my order?

It's your guitar, and we want you to be happy. However, please be aware that any changes made may involve further cost (which you will incur), as well as delaying delivery.

If you think you want to make any changes, please Contact Us and we'll guide you through how we can help you.

I've ordered a guitar but now I don't want it

We're sorry to hear that. We recognise that people change their minds, or that circumstances change. If you have paid your deposit, but now don't want the guitar, please let us know, and you won't be charged the rest of the cost. However, please note that the deposit is non-refundable.

What is '7-sound wiring'?

This is a feature applicable to any of our guitars that feature 3 pickups allied to a 5-way selector switch.

The aforementioned switch typically gives you access to the bridge pickup, bridge+middle, middle, neck+middle, neck - 5 sounds in total.

However, our 7-sound wiring adds in bridge+neck, as well as all pickups on. It involves no special switching, and is a no-cost option.

Design

What body designs do you do?

Designs are typically SC (singlecut) and DC (doublecut).

That said, what design do you want? We can start with a blank piece of paper and work together to realise it accordingly.

Can I have any finish I like?

We certainly aim to please, but the finish depends on a number of things. Tell us what you'd ideally like - give us as much details as you can, even if it involves pictures. We'll then advise you as to what's realistically achievable, and suggest alternatives if needs be.

I've got a logo or design I want featured on the guitar.

We often work in partnership with Enterprise XD Design, a 3D design and production company. If you have a specific logo or design, we can decide how best to implement it on the guitar - inlaid logo, scratchplate, etc - and then they can create it accordingly.

Obviously, this would be an additional cost, but you will be advised of this during the design stage.

To see a guitar example of some 3D-printed goodness being added to one of our guitars, check out the Crimson Avenger SC on our Guitars page.

Enterprise XD Design create many different items far beyond the humble world of the guitar. To check them out, please follow this link.

Ordering

What is the ordering process?

After getting in touch with us via one of the various options on the Contact Us page, we can start talking about what you'd like in terms of your new guitar. You'll get asked lots of questions, but don't worry, this is so we can determine exactly what you want. If you're not sure about certain items - body wood, pickups, whatever - we can make suggestions and guide you accordingly.

Once we've agreed on what you'd like, we'll come back to you with how much the total cost will be, and how long the build will take. If you are happy with this, we'll ask for a deposit amount to secure the build (this is typically 20% of the total cost, but may be higher if expensive components need to be purchased).

Once in receipt of the deposit, we'll send you an invoice acknowledging receipt, as well as detailing what has been agreed for the build.

During the build you'll be sent photos and video clips periodically to show you how it's progressing. Once it's finished, you'll receive a link to studio-shot photos of your guitar, followed by a demo video (both the photos and videos will be used additionally by Virgo Guitars as promotional material).

If you're happy with these, then we'll ask for the outstanding balance to be settled. Once in receipt, your guitar will be shipped to you.
