The bass cut (as also seen on the Arcanus model) is incredibly useful, especially as the pickups are 2-conductor wire, and thus cannot be split. Dialling the bass end down simulates a thinner, more single coil-like tone, but with none of the associated 60-cycle hum, giving you all of the benefits with none of the drawbacks. Plus, it's a completely passive system, so no batteries required.
